ECCIL EuroCham Laos is the only official representation of the European Business community in Lao PDR. Established since 2011, its main mission is to advocate its members’ interests and to promote and increase business between Lao PDR and the European States, for their mutual benefits.
EuroCham Laos, in collaboration with the South-East Asia (SEA) IP SME Helpdesk โ an initiative of the European Commission to support European (EU + SMP*) small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in protecting and enforcing their intellectual property rights (IPR) in SEAโwill host a webinar on the topic "Brand Protection in Laos โ Advantages and Risks for SMEs."
Strategically positioned to become SEA's new logistics hub notably with its expanding high-speed railway, Laos offers unique opportunities and challenges for businesses with an established presence in the region (yet not domestically) or willing to enter the region with lower costs than in Singapore. Dino Santaniello, External Expert of the SEA IP SME Helpdesk, will raise awareness on the challenges, such as enforcement of IP rights and parallel import, and explain how businesses can efficiently use IPR protection to safeguard their assets notably through trademark registration.
