Event Details
The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that helps extend the life cycle of products by reusing, repairing, and recycling them as long as possible. It helps minimize waste and reduce the exploitation of natural resources. After the products reach the end of their lives, parts of them could be reused as resources for another production. Therefore, the circular economy is more efficient, in terms of waste reduction and resource use, than the conventional linear-economic approach of production and consumption (which is based on a take-make-consume-throw-away pattern)
In Lao PDR, the concept of circular economy has just been introduced recently and many people are not aware of this model. Therefore, training on circular economy is necessary for the public and private sectors. The training aims at providing the knowledge of circular economy, its importance, and its benefits. In addition, the training will provide case studies on how some countries are doing to becoming a circular economy, and how Lao PDR could integrate the concept and practice of circular economy into policy formulation.
