This exclusive Breakfast talk, on Wednesday, May 10th, is the first milestone of the launching of the "Empowering Women in Business" ECCIL-EU-Team Europe joined the program, which objective is to contribute to gender equality and women empowerment in the area of private sector development and business in Lao PDR.

With a lack of gender parity in senior leadership roles across the majority of organizations worldwide, efforts need to be made to promote upward mobility for women. Although many experienced Lao female professionals have successfully navigated these roadblocks and managed to rise through the ranks in the companies they work for, they are still too few and they have endured numerous gender-related issues throughout their careers. Workplace conditions for women have come a long way in the past few decades – yet there is still much progress to be made.

The private sector, including employer and business membership organizations, plays an important role in accelerating progress on closing gender gaps in the workplace. ECCIL EuroCham seeks to encourage companies to promote diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.

This 1st breakfast talk will serve the purpose of introducing the program to the public, launching it with a panel talk of experienced female executives, discussing and brainstorming how to support women achieve economic empowerment and gender equality in Lao PDR.

The breakfast talk starts at 8:30 am and until 10.50 am as an informal roundtable an open buffet, where we freely discuss, share experiences, ask questions, and make suggestions in a safe space.

For this launching session, the EU Ambassador and Ambassador of Germany to Lao PDR will be our guests of honor. The participants are composed of the Team Europe Head of Missions (HOMs) who will be there to listen to 20 experienced Lao Women Entrepreneurs or Executive as well as partners (Lao Women Union, Lao Youth Union, etc. ) who will share their success stories, their challenges and give their insights on the current situation in Lao PDR for Women in Business.
