Bayan Airag Exploration LLC
Bayan Airag Exploration LLC operates the first gold and silver mine in Zavkhan province, specifically in Durvuljin soum. From 2002 to 2007, the company conducted extensive exploration across several soums in the northwest of Zavkhan. The findings were submitted in January 2008 and officially registered by February 2008. By March 24, 2008, Bayan Airag Exploration LLC received a 30-year operation license for the mine. The company has made significant contributions to local development.

Project Location

The project site is located in Durvuljin soum, Zavkhan province, at an altitude of 1500 – 2500 meters above sea level. It is approximately 1,200 km from Ulaanbaatar, 150 km from Uliastai city, and 20 km from the soum center. The area has a harsh climate with very low precipitation, temperatures ranging from +40°C in summer to -40°C in winter, and frequent dust and snowstorms.

Operations

Bayan Airag mine uses open-pit mining techniques. This involves extracting gold by cutting the pit open, crushing, heaping, and leaching the ore. Initially, ore and surrounding waste rocks are removed from the pit. The ore is then hauled to a stockpile area less than 1 km away for crushing, leaching, and processing.
