An active supporter and promoter of the arts, Clara Borja Hinojosa, has been involved in creating many events in which music, visual and performing arts, and literature become a link between cultures and countries. She has served on numerous boards and committees: The Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture, The Sammons Center for the Arts, The Meadows School of the Arts, The Dallas Museum of Art, the USA Film Festival, Chiapas International and others.

As Founder and Director of The Mexico Institute, Clara has organized hundreds of cultural, educational, and humanitarian events both in the United States and abroad, such as Frida Kahlo, Images of Mexico, Lola Alvarez Bravo, Lindee Climo, Colorin Colorado, The Great Masters of Mexican Folk Art, Leonora Carrington and other international exhibitions.

Clara created The Day of the Spanish Language in 1984 to motivate the proper use of Spanish through writing contests and lectures with some of the best writers from Mexico.

The Mexico Institute has received proclamations for literature, music, and the visual arts through her leadership. In 1989, she worked on the committee for the opening of the Meyerson Symphony Hall, she was in charge of bringing Spanish-speaking media from Spain and Latin America.

The 1985 Mexico City Earthquake and Gas Explosion Relief Campaigns are just a sample of the fundraising events she has organized. She is also involved in preserving her native city of Guanajuato as a cultural heritage of humanity designated by UNESCO and, for twelve years, with Chiapas International dedicated to eradicating extreme poverty in the southern state of Chiapas, where it benefited over 50,000 families. Through her work in the non-profit sector, Clara learned the importance of organized philanthropy and, in 2001, with The Meadows Foundation and The University of Texas in Austin, initiated the creation of the first school of philanthropy in Latin America at the University of Puebla. Clara’s passion for Mexican culture has opened more possibilities for improving understanding between the United States and Mexico. Among many awards, Clara received the 2012 Latino Living Legend Award by Hispanic 100 In 2014, the Mexican Government honored her with the Ohtli Award. n 2017, she received the Maestro of Community Service Award from the Latino Leaders Magazine and the Lifetime Merit Award from the AEM.

Born in Mexico City, at the age of seven Lucrecia Waggoner discovered ceramics while taking an arts and crafts course at the Museo Nacional de Antropología in Mexico City. Her culture and upbringing have profoundly influenced her work. Her installations stem from a blend of her journey into reinvigorating ancient cultural artistry and experiences traveling to the far East and scenic landscapes of Texas and Mexico

She later moved to Dallas, earning her BFA in ceramics at SMU. Previously a student of Parsons School of Design in New York, Waggoner has also continued her studies with courses and workshops in France, Germany, and Hong Kong.

Lucrecia describes her work as ''Minimalist, yet expressive: a direct extension of her passionate personality and rich cultural background.''

Lucrecia currently works as Studio Artist and her work is part of numerous private and public collections, including Toyota, BBVA Compass, Virage Capital Management, Plains Capital Bank, Chileno Bay, Cabo, and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
