The Arizona Apprenticieship Program - Earn as you Learn!
Melissa HuffmanAn apprenticeship is not just a job, it is a career. Graduates who successfully complete their apprenticeship training will receive a nationally recognized completion certificate. In this regard, an apprenticeship is considered "the other four (4) year degree." Apprentices earn a salary while learning their craft. An apprenticeship combines on-the-job-training experience with related (classroom) instruction. Apprenticeship occupations last from one (1) to six (6) years, but most average three (3) to four (4) years.
Many occupations offer apprenticeships, including healthcare, construction, information technology, cyber security, advanced manufacturing and business services.

Arizona Roadmap to Veteran Employment
Abe McCannThe Roadmap is a statewide plan that engages public and private sector organizations with a goal of connecting service members, veterans and their family members to employment opportunities, training & resources. This effort is funded in part by the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family. The Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services and the Arizona Coalition for Military Families are the lead implementation partners.

Apprenticeship Training Representative at Department of Economic SecurityMelissa is originally from Grand Forks, North Dakota but moved to northern Arizona in the late 90s. She moved to Phoenix in 2005 to further her education and graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Business Administration.
Melissa has been with the Arizona Apprenticeship Office for two years as Apprenticeship Training Representative which has been spent with employer and employment relations. She believes in developing strong relationships as an important foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally. She travels the State of Arizona providing technical assistance in creating registered apprenticeship programs and sharing ARIZONA@WORK services. She assists over 175 Registered Apprenticeship Programs statewide incorporating over 1,200 employers with over 4,100 registered apprentices and counting.
