21C Learning Webinar: Embracing the New Normal in Learning
COVID-19 has accelerated the adoption of e-learning in Hong Kong like never before. Hong Kong is held up by the international media as one of the early movers in switching to e-learning. How might we apply the remote learning experience in the last few months to usher a new era of blended learning when school resumes ?
This webinar is the second in the 21C Learning series organised by Esperanza and Hong Kong Education City. At the last webinar on 30 Mar, we highlighted the need for a mindset change for educators. The notion of an educator as the knowledge-holder is no longer fit for the purpose of a 21st-century education when knowledge is just a few clicks away. Research shows that learning online can be more effective in motivating and empowering learning amongst the Generation Z-ers. Technology can also help overcome some of the challenges in personalising, tracking and evaluating learning. The challenge, however, is how we could overcome the digital divide to enable technology as a force to democratise learning.
Effective learning is also a lot more than technology. The pandemic has shown how interconnected we are. Our students need to be able to understand the global interrelatedness and work in a globally collaborative way. COVID-19 is also a stark manifestation of our volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous world. Survival will no longer be for the fittest but those who have the creativity, resilience and confidence to overcome challenges. All in all, the pandemic has highlighted the imperative of equipping our future generations with essential life skills that cannot be learnt through traditional rote learning.
As educators prepare for school resumption, this webinar will gather local and international educators to share their experiences in how we could harness the power of technology to equip a future-ready generation and to make teaching and learning more fun, meaningful and effective.
Join us if you would like to get ready for the new normal.
