Are you struggling with making Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) relevant to the business? Are they a tick-box exercise which no one really takes any notice of? This practical and engaging workshop will provide you with the skills and knowledge to carry out EQIAs; a vital step in embedding equality, diversity and inclusion into your organisation.

Equality Impact Assessments (EQIAs) should be part and parcel of the way any organisation makes decisions - regarding both policy and operational matters. Housing organisations not only have their own workforce to consider, but their tenants, leaseholders, and wider communities to take into account when implementing, changing, or withdrawing something.

EQIAs are one of the ways that organisations can ensure that policies, actions or services do not have a negative/adverse impact on groups protected by the Equality Act 2010. They also help ensure that those policies, actions or services effectively meet the needs of, and can have a positive impact on those groups.

In this workshop, we will look at EQIAs as a tool for helping you to ensure that:

  • Your organisation understands the importance of carrying out EQIAs, and when they should be done.
  • You understand the potential effects of a policy or procedure by assessing the impacts on different groups, both internal and external.
  • Any adverse impacts can be identified and actions identified are removed or mitigated where possible.
  • Decisions are transparent and based on evidence with clear reasoning.

This online training will leave you with greater confidence in carrying out effective EQIAs so that your organisation can serve its staff and residents in a fair and equitable way.
