Event Details

As Georgia continues to solidify its position as one of the top states for business, our state has attracted significant new investments and job creation from various sectors. At the same time, the Peach State is emerging as a tech hub, driven by rapid growth in the technology sector.

However, while Georgia's economy is on a promising trajectory toward economic growth and prosperity, one persistent challenge threatens to slow our progress: workforce shortages. Recent data reveals that for every 100 jobs in the state, there are only 63 available workers. More broadly, Georgia's companies face a collective shortfall of 106,000 workers needed for full employment.

Beyond the potential for them to stunt our growth, these shortages pose a serious risk to all sectors of our economy, from healthcare to agriculture, with small businesses facing the more acute impact.

State policymakers have recognized these challenges and have been working toward long-term solutions. Yet, in the meantime, technology is playing a crucial role in alleviating many of the concerns. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are now seeing widespread adoption across a growing number of Georgia's key industries. These technologies are helping companies do more with less--expanding capacities and helping to manage resources more effectively through data-driven insights. As a result of this adoption, Georgia is emerging as an early leader among states in AI adoption, supported by our leading academic institutions and the vital work of organizations like the Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and small businesses training individuals and companies on leveraging AI to their advantage.

Join the Atlanta Business League at the Gathering Spot on October 29, 2024, for an insightful conversation featuring tech leaders, academics, and state lawmakers on the emerging role of artificial intelligence in closing the gap in Georgia's workforce shortages and helping to build our economic future.
