Theme: Commemorating September 11, 2001

Wednesday marks the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. It is a day seared in memory. On this night, we will commemorate the lives lost on 9/11 and honor the bravery of those affected. We will talk about how we think the attacks may have shaped—and continue to shape—our generations.

Think about these questions provided by The New York Times:

What were you doing on September 11, 2001?
How did you find out about the attacks?
What was your immediate reaction to the attacks?
What memories are most vivid?
What do you remember about the response of people in the United States? The international community?
Are there surprises in how you reacted or felt? Anything that challenged what you know — or thought you knew?
Do you consider September 11 to be a pivotal event in your life? If so, in what ways?
What messages, emotions, or ideas live on with you from 9/11?
In what ways have you changed your life following the attacks?
What takeaway would you share with a young adult today who was not alive when the attacks occurred?
