COMPASS INSTITUTE has evolved beyond an annual conference event to a global research and advisory firm providing education information, advice, and tools for economic inclusion, procurement, diversity management, and contract compliance functions. The global climate calls for CHANGE and DEI is a strategic catalyst to achieve transformative and sustainable effects within organizations and communities.

Program Overview

NFBPA and COMPASS Institute for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in a partnership will offer a DE&I/ Economic Inclusion Certificate for those who wish to enhance their learning on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Economic Inclusion/Supplier Diversity. The Certificate will indicate that an individual has participated in a series of learning opportunities which have been identified to support their learning efforts as a DE&I professional. The certificate is also available for those who wish to enter the DE&I field which is one of the fastest growing areas in state and local government. The certificate offerings will focus on the fundamentals of DE&I/Economic Inclusion, as well as practical application of the learnings from the program. All learners who complete courses to earn the DE&I/Economic Inclusion Certificate will be featured in an article published by NFBPA and. The article reaches over 3000 members of NFBPA.


Number of Hours: The Certificate Program will require twenty (20) course hours or equivalent of two (2) CEUs.


Certifying Body: Upon completion of all approved learnings, a certification will be jointly issued by NFBPA and PRISM Compliance Management.


CEU Certification: Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, Center for Continuing and Professional Studies, is the certifying academic body for all courses offered by the NFBPA and PRISM Certification Program. COMPASS Institute for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will provide a tracking system for a participant's hours. Participants will be able to load their approved class workshop/course into the COMPASS Institute LMS upon completion. This provides a way for an individual to track their number of CEUs.


Learning Opportunities: NFBPA and COMPASS Institute will provide a 6-hour in-person DE&I/Economic Inclusion course at its annual conference in April which will be available to learners who wish to start the certificate process. A learner may also take 15 – 18 hours at the COMPASS Institute for DEI International conference in late September. NFBPA and COMPASS Institute will offer courses throughout the year, in which learners may enroll. These courses may be approved for the DEI/EI Certificate Program prior to being advertised. COMPASS Institute for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will provide additional learning content and resources via its Learning Management System.


Learning Areas:

• These are the DE&I/Economic Inclusion foundational areas in which NFBPA and COMPASS Institute for DEI will offer courses.

• NFBPA and COMPASS Institute for DEI will also offer webinars throughout the year for certification credit.

• COMPASS Institute for DEI will seek other Qualifying Learning Partners such as SHRM, HRCI and AMAC, who may offer critical and relevant DEI/EI courses that will be accepted as long as they meet the criteria for any of the foundational courses.
