PRIMARY CEMENTING OPERATIONS (PART 1 to 3)

Course Description

If successful cementing operations are not carried out during the drilling of each well, the integrity of the well is jeopardized. Effective cementing guarantees zonal isolation and hydraulic sealing. In oil and gas operations, primary cementing entails mixing and displacing a cement slurry down the casing and into the annular area between the casing/liner and wellbore. All workers employed by the operational and servicing companies should have a working knowledge of cement slurry design, cement additives, calculations, and placement methods. This course will provide an overview of oil and gas well primary cementing operations and the information necessary to understand the properties of cement, its evaluations, development of a cement program, perform calculations, execute it, and deal with difficulties that may arise during cementation. Additionally, this course will address cement additives, on-site mixing equipment, and on-site job execution.

PART-1: At the end of the primary cementing Part-1 course, participants will be able to know the following:

1. Know the types of Cementing equipment for offshore and land cementing operations.

2. Casing & cementing preparations, precautions

3. Types of cementation - Primary & secondary

4. Cement classifications, composition and uses

5. Requirements and what to order for a primary cement job

6. Cement recipe analysis

7. Understand the various types/classes, functions of cementing additives.

8. Use cement additives in designing cement slurries to improve job success

9. Cement Job & cement slurry design

Who should attend?

It is ideal for drilling engineers, drilling supervisors, asst drilling supervisors, supervisors, superintendents, Mudd Engineers, fluid superintendent, completion engineers, petroleum Engineers. Engineers and Managers (in Drilling, Well Intervention/Services, Reservoir Engineering, Production Operations) and others, whose jobs require them to interface with drilling Engineers.
