This year, the world is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Convention against corruption (UNCAC). In commemoration of this milestone, the BCCSA, together with 4 other European business Chambers, is organising an event for its members on the theme of corruption.


This highly informative event will provide participants with tools and important insights into how to tackle corruption within your organisation.


We have put together an amazing panel of speakers, who will share their experience and discuss business integrity and the role of the private sector in preventing and countering corruption.

    Moderator
    Ishan has over 15 years of assurance experience. Prior to joining Mazars, he was the Chief Audit Executive (Designate) for Assurance and Forensic at a large SOC. He was accountable for Internal Audit, Technical Audit, Technical Investigations and Forensic Investigations for the organization. As part of his role, he was an official of the Board Audit and Risk Committee and EXCO. Through his role, he has worked with the Special Investigating Unit (‘SIU’), the National Prosecuting Authority (‘NPA’) and other organisations mandated to fight and prosecute corruption.

    Ishan has previously served on the Gauteng Regional Committee of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), as well as the Technical Committee of the IIA, and has extensive knowledge of governance, risks and controls.

    Chairperson at OUTA (Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse)

    Wayne was a founding director and chairperson of OUTA in 2012, which set out to pursue civil society’s challenge of Governments irrational eToll decision in Gauteng.

    Since 2016, OUTA had expanded its mandate and escalated the Non-Profit entity to become a formidable civil activist organisation, employing a team of around 45 professionals and activists that have taken on over 250 projects, related to irrational policy decisions, corruption and maladministration of tax-payers money.

    Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC)

    Maria is currently coordinating the anti-corruption work of UNODC Regional Office for Southern Africa. She also leads UNODC global work on corruption risk assessment and management within public institutions as well as work on corruption related to crimes that have an impact on the environment and corruption in the health sector.

    She has 18 years experience in crime prevention and criminal justice issues, with a particular focus on anti-corruption and economic crimes.

    A Sustainability Professional, she has over 20 years of experience both in academic research and actual support to companies on corporate sustainability.

    For the last 19 years, Sonia has managed an Accounting, Tax and Company Secretarial practice, which has some large clients.
    She is a PPG member and the Chair of the Finance and Risk Committee of the Institute.
    She worked at Anglo American for 6 years and at Total SA for 3 years in accounting and internal auditing.

    Mosilo Mothepu

    Whistleblower

    Mosilo Mothepu has eighteen years’ experience in the financial services industry.

    She worked on several key infrastructure projects, including raising capital for the Airports Company of South Africa in preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. She is the whistleblower behind the Nenegate/Trillian Gupta linked affair.

    Mothepu was named a Daily Maverick South African Person of the Year in 2017 and won the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation’s Reconciliation Award in 2018.

Over the years he has supported the South African Government with numerous policy projects, including the development of the Minimum Anti-Corruption Capacity Guidance, and the 2016 South African Local Government Anti-Corruption Strategy.
