Robben Island Swim

Swim the iconic 7.4km crossing from Robben Island to Blouberg!

Sign up for a solo crossing (on your own), or share a boat with up to 2 swimmers (i.e. maximum 3 swimmers per boat).

What your booking includes:

• Full boat support for the swim, including skipper and boat fuel costs.
• Experienced route navigation with GPS, and contact with port authorities.
• Organization around permits required for swimmers to step onto Robben Island.
• Observer report submission to the CLDSA, should you wish to have your swim officially recognized.

Swim dates:

Please note that booking dates are guidelines only. Swims will depend on conditions (wind, swell, water temperature etc.), and it cannot be guaranteed that your swim will take place within the allocated date range. The organizer will choose the most suitable, available day and will contact you about final plans a week before the swim.

Swim Overview:

You'll meet your skipper at the Water Club next to the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. From there you'll take a +-30 minute boat ride to Robben Island and then swim a short distance to shore, from where you'll start your swim. After finishing in Blouberg, you can either swim back to the boat to catch a ride back to the Water Club, or you can arrange for friends or family to meet you at Big Bay Beach.

Entry Requirements:

Swimmers signing up for this event must have the necessary physical and mental fitness, and must be free from major medical conditions and injuries. Swimmers must have completed a swim of at least 5km in open water in the month preceding the event.

Tickets for Swim Pods Guests:

(Guests are required to pay one fee upfront for all swimmers i.e. you need to get a group together for 2-3 swimmers sharing a boat)
