Event Details
Please join SABABC for a discussion on the effects of systemic racism in the legal profession and the particular impacts it has on South Asian lawyers, particularly junior lawyers.
Panelists will discuss their experiences in the legal profession both as students and junior lawyers, and as supervising lawyers who have worked with students and juniors over the years. The discussion, which will involve a moderated Q&A session, will focus in particular on the impact of the historic lack of diversity and systemic racism or discrimination on entry into the profession.
Panelists will also give their views on what students and juniors can do to be successful in the interview process, articling, or early on in their careers. There will be a short time given for questions from the audience at the end of the session. The session is moderated by SABABC Director, Sahil Kesar.
Attendance is free for current SABABC members. Law students and articling students interested in student membership, please be advised that SABABC will consider waiving the 2021 renewal fee for new student members.
