Robert Blass, a Member of the Firm since 2002, concentrates his practice in Health and Hospital Law and in Employment Law. With a background in healthcare and a firsthand understanding of the clinical and business realities of health care as well as its legal and regulatory environment, Mr. Blass represents health professionals in corporate and transactional matters, including the purchase or sale of a medical, dental or veterinary practice, organizational guidance and advice on employment and licensing matters.
Before joining the Firm as an associate in 1994, Mr. Blass began his legal career as a corporate lawyer with a large New York City-based firm concentrating in the area of capital markets, securities law, and mergers and acquisitions. He later served as a New Jersey Deputy Attorney General from 1991-1994, and, in that capacity, as attorney for the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, now part of Rutgers University. He served for many years as a member of the Bioethics Committee of University Hospital in Newark, a major teaching affiliate of Rutgers.
Mr. Blass received a DDS degree from Columbia University, completed hospital residency training, and taught briefly at Columbia. He attended law school while engaged in private dental practice, and received his JD from Rutgers where he was editor in chief of the Rutgers Law Review.
Among his professional activities and affiliations, Mr. Blass is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association (health and hospital law, labor and employment law sections), the Bergen County Bar Association, where he serves on the health law committee and is co-chair of the Health & Hospital Law Committee, and the American Health Lawyers Association. He lectures regularly before various health professional groups and writes frequently on health law and employment matters.
Jordan Goldsmith's practice includes all aspects of healthcare law. Mr. Goldsmith particularly concentrates in the areas of medical malpractice and significant personal injury, and takes great pride in representing people injured as a result of the negligent acts of others. Through his disciplined preparation and dedicated advocacy, Mr. Goldsmith has achieved several large awards on behalf of his clients.
Mr. Goldsmith's practice also includes the zealous representation of healthcare professionals in the review of employment agreements and before the State Board of Medical Examiners, Office of Professional Medical Conduct, Alcohol and Drug Counselor Committee and the Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners.
Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Goldsmith served as an Assistant Prosecutor with the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, where he was lead counsel in hundreds of matters ranging from homicides to white collar crimes. His involvement often began in the initial investigative stages and ended with a plea or trial. Prior to joining the Prosecutor's Office, Mr. Goldsmith served as law clerk to the Hon. Mary K. Costello, P.J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Civil Division.
Mr. Goldsmith teaches a course, “Compliance, Regulatory and Legal Issues in Healthcare,” to undergraduates at the Teaneck campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. He was included in (201) Magazine's list of Bergen's "Top Lawyers" in Medical Malpractice in 2018 and 2019.
Mariya Gonor is an attorney in the Firm’s Litigation Department. Ms. Gonor focuses her practice on counseling clients in employment matters, representing individuals and businesses in insurance coverage disputes as well as commercial litigation.
A 2013 Seton Hall Law School graduate, in addition to graduating in the top 10% of her class, Ms. Gonor was the Managing Editor of the Seton Hall Circuit Review, and among other honors, received the Order of the Coif award as well as the Chancellor’s Scholarship. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Finance with a minor in Economics from William Paterson University, summa cum laude. She was awarded a full-tuition Presidential Scholarship and was named Outstanding Senior Business Administration (in Finance).
Immediately before joining Beattie Padovano, Ms. Gonor served as a law clerk to the Honorable Douglas K. Wolfson, Superior Court, Middlesex County. Ms. Gonor worked as a billing supervisor and patient advocate at a medical office to put herself through law school, and also participated in various internships, which helped her to gain valuable hands-on experience in the legal field.
In 2019 Ms. Gonor was named as a Rising Star in the Super Lawyer Magazine* in the field of Business Litigation.
Originally from Kiev, Ukraine, Ms. Gonor moved to the United States in 2004. She is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.
Mr. Hille focuses his practice in litigation, with a particular emphasis on trial advocacy. His areas of concentration include insurance, healthcare law, professional liability and ethics, and white-collar criminal matters. including those related to professional ethics. Mr. Hille has extensive trial expertise that encompasses insurance defense and coverage cases, healthcare disputes, professional liability defense, fraud and abuse, and regulatory issues.
Mr. Hille’s white-collar experience includes involvement in both state and federal investigations, including those related to healthcare fraud and abuse and the taking of fraudulent payments from government entities. He also represents legal professionals in District Ethics Committee (DEC) and Office of Attorney Ethics (OAE) investigations and prosecutions, including matters before the Disciplinary Review Board (DRB) and New Jersey Supreme Court. In that regard, Mr. Hille has represented clients in matters ranging from dismissal or diversion to disbarment.
Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney, Mr. Hille has served as an amicus representative for professional and business associations on a number of matters before the Supreme Court. He has published and lectured widely in his areas of concentration.
