    Allow me to introduce myself… My name is Lakisha R. Austin, LICSW, MBA, MSW. I am a Bostonian. I live in Mattapan. MA. I am a 46-year-old phenomenal black woman, that’s me! I am the proud single mother of a 16-year-old black son. I have a unique perspective because I am a recovered people pleaser who happens to be a licensed independent clinical social worker (therapist )and a life coach. I also have a masters’ in business administration. Most people don’t know that I purchased my home at the age of 26. I have also worked in several networking marketing businesses. I am a former financial services representative and a bank manager. I have been a foster parent and a youth mentor. I am a domestic violence survivor and advocate for prevention. Despite all these accolades and triumphs of resiliency, and my family and peers reminding me of how dope I was, I never felt like I was enough. I struggled with wanting people to like me, I struggled with my confidence, I would do the most for everyone but myself. I was depressed and my weight shot up. I was broke and so unhappy. I was afraid and feared failing. After completing my master’s in clinical social work in 2015, I understood that I had imposter syndrome and I was a people pleaser. Fast forward…It would take me five more years, and the death of my loving father, before I took a stand to truly walk in my truth and BET on Me! Now I curator programs and events to help others BETonSELF too!
