The New Range Rover Unveiled in Laos at Exclusive Event
The New Range Rover Unveiled in Laos at Exclusive Event
Jaguar Land Rover Laos unveiled the New Range Rover at the Lao National Convention Hall in Vientiane Capital on 15 July.

The event was opened by Mr. Wayne McIntosh, Automotive Managing Director, and Mr. Biju Narayanan, General Manager of Jaguar Land Rover Lao, in the presence of government officials and dignitaries.

The modern technology and capabilities of the New Range Rover were presented by Mrs. Outhith Siphandone, Sales Manager of Jaguar Land Rover Lao.
The Range Rover is the original luxury SUV and has led by example for 50 years, combining serene comfort and composure with all-conquering capability. The New Range Rover is the most desirable yet, effortlessly combining breathtaking modernity and aesthetic grace with technological sophistication and seamless connectivity, yet retaining the uniqueness of Land Rover to ensure every trip is full of fun and happiness.

In Laos, a full-service Land Rover distributorship began operating in 2009 with a knowledgeable team of experts to advise and offer support, with Jaguar being added into the mix in 2013.

The uptake in the Lao market seems very promising, as you can see on the road, Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles are dominating in the market segment. We have sold over 1200 vehicles so far and we expect to capture even more of the premium market share in the future.

The 3rd tranche of the funding agreement between BFL & LHSE
The 3rd tranche of the funding agreement between BFL & LHSE
On July 19th, 2022, our Silver Sponsor, Banque Franco Lao Ltd (BFL) signed the 3rd tranche of the funding agreement with Lao Holding State Enterprise (LHSE), to provide an additional USD7 million to finance strategic developments of the Lao PDR.

Following the largely successful of a second tranche financing last June, this 3rd tranche agreement between BFL and LHSE represents a significant achievement in their cooperation with the aim of supporting and strengthening the financial capacity to continue to develop the energy sector of Laos through sustainable, long term financial solution.

BFL is a full commercial bank providing companies with a complete range of financing and transactional solutions. BFL is committed to support our customers with growth potential as well as play a pivotal role to drive Laos's economic growth. BFL already participated in major projects financing in the Lao PDR in different sectors such as energy, industry, real estate, and hospitality.

“We are proud of our contribution to the local economy, and we will continue to do our best to finance its development in the coming decades. We are part of the 17th banking group in the world, and Laos has a particular significance as it is the first country in Southeast Asia where our group invested, before Thailand, Cambodia or Myanmar. In this regard, the financing agreement with LHSE perfectly meets our goals as we know that the energy sector in Laos is full of potential, not only in hydro but also in renewable energies.” – Mr. Bounmy, the Deputy Managing Director of BFL said.

Asia in Focus: Clean Air and the Business and Human Rights Agenda
In recent years, a rich dialogue has emerged in Asia on the impact of business operations on human rights and the environment. According to experts, an estimated 92% of the population in the Asia-Pacific region is exposed to unhealthy levels of air pollution, putting people, livelihoods, and economies at risk. The current report, ‘Asia in Focus: Clean Air and the Business and Human Rights Agenda,’ provides an overview of the current state of air pollution in the region and makes recommendations for policy action, taking inspiration from the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. The report is developed by UNDP in partnership with the European Union and written in collaboration with Economist Impact.
