A Personal Message From Executive Director (Friday, May 29th)

Dear Members and Friends,

The vast majority of our members are engaged in providing support to regions, communities, healthcare institutions and their own teams during these extraordinary times. Thank you for responding to requests for information via our Buddy system. BritCham is also delighted to be delivering 1700 litres of hand-sanitizer to the Mayor of Bogor’s office. This support initiative has been driven by our Chairman, Ainsley Mann.

The Idul Fitri break has been and gone. In spite of announcements to re-open malls my numerous conversations with members suggest that everyone is holding their breaths and hoping that the movements over the last 10 days will not prove to have set back plans for a recovery to a new normal.

At a governmental level, MoF and BI delivered an investor relations briefing earlier in the week. They confirmed that the National Economic Recovery Programme is mobilized to support across groups: consumption support for the poor, loan interest relief for micro, small and medium-sized companies, tax relief and deferrals for all companies, fiscal support for SOEs in need and a range of support targeted sectorally and regionally.

Regionally, DIT and partners have developed a repository of the measures governments across Asia Pacific have adopted to support business. This is hosted by Asia House on their website and signposts businesses to the most up to date information and guidance. DIT is also keen to work with Chamber members in responding to any market specific queries generated by this resource. To access this resource, click below.
