New BMCC Chair Meets with the British High Commissioner to Malaysia
image
Mark Arthun, the new Chair of BMCC, recently met with His Excellency Charles Hay MVO, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia as well as BMCC Patron for an introductory meeting. Mark, who is the Managing Director and Site Leader of Smith & Nephew Operations Sdn Bhd, was accompanied by Jennifer Lopez, CEO of BMCC. The meeting was also joined by Richard Colley, the new Country Director, Department of International Trade (DIT), UK.

Mark shared his plans as the new Chair to raise the profile of BMCC whilst continuing to create the right value for our members. It was also an opportunity to understand the High Commissioner's priorities and expectations for the Chamber.

The BMCC is proud to enjoy excellent working synergies with the teams at the High Commission in promoting Malaysia as a place of doing business, supporting UK businesses as well as in areas such as climate action in the interest of strengthening the UK-Malaysia bilateral business relations and partnerships.

The BMCC also takes this opportunity to welcome Richard, who took on his current post as Country Director, DIT on 1 August 2022. The BMCC looks forward to continuing to foster close work relationships and collaboration with the DIT team under Richard's leadership. We wish Richard the very best in his new role.

BMCC’s experience in supporting British exporters market entry to Malaysia, as the overseas delivery partner of DIT previously has positioned the Chamber well to continue to offer bespoke solutions to promote bilateral trade between the UK and Malaysia.

The Chamber's current trade services include:
  • Overseas membership
  • Business consultation with the trade team
  • Business matching
  • Business facilities
  • BMCC members referral network

Event | Join us as Partners for Malaysia Climate Action Week
Be part of BMCC's Malaysia Climate Action Week by coming on board as Climate Action Partners. Be part of the solution by participating in our week-long programme to create a positive impact by businesses across industries and participation from the wider society.

This year's Malaysia Climate Action Week is themed "A.C.T. Now! Adapt, Collaborate and Transcend" with more activities to inspire more Malaysian companies to take action and work together in overcoming the impacts of climate change. The Chamber hopes to get more stakeholders involved in addressing issues related to climate change.

We hope to reach out to a wider group of people with a series of exciting events and activities lined up throughout the five-day programme. The week-long programme will include a half-day conference, a roundtable discussion and sustainability workshop targeted at corporates.

The Chamber also launched the BMCC Climate Action Pledge during last year's programme, which saw 29 organisations signed up to either take initial steps on climate action or to support other organisations through their knowledge and solutions. We hope to rally more organisations to sign the Pledge this year and to recognise existing Pledge signatories to further their climate commitments.
