Create the Writers Room presents Five Film Fridays, an indie film screening series dedicated to creating new pathways and opportunities for up and coming filmmakers and storytellers to get their work in front of audiences, executives, decision makers and studio heads. With our cross-sector supporters, we're putting creatives on a path towards financial freedom, indie film success and even Oscar eligibility.
We're currently accepting submissions for the January 2025 Five Film Fridays. The five films selected will become eligible to be one of 3 films screened at the 2025 Pan African Film Festival in the first ever Sci-Fi / Fantasy category screening. Our special guests and panel of judges will include our sponsors, studio executives and filmmakers who are committed to the CTWR mission and mentoring the next wave of fresh BIPOC filmmakers.
Interested in submitting your film? We're seeking:
- Film length: Short film between 3:00 and 20:00 minutes
- Genre: Sci-Fi / Fantasy
- Cost: $60 submission fee (free for members)

Naledi Jackson
Co-Executive producer and a writer for the upcoming sci-fi series, Neuromancer, Apple TVNaledi Jackson is a Canadian-South African screenwriter, director, and producer who was raised in Zimbabwe. She is currently a Co-Executive producer and a writer for the upcoming Apple TV sci-fi series, Neuromancer, based on the iconic novel by William Gibson. Recently, she was a writer and Supervising Producer on the Apple TV original drama, Shining Girls, starring Elizabeth Moss, as well as writer and Producer on Outer Range, an Amazon Studios/Plan B Entertainment drama, starring Josh Brolin. Prior to that, she wrote and co-produced the beloved Netflix drama, Anne With an E, for two seasons. Naledi’s short film, The Drop In, premiered at TIFF and was part of the Canada Top Ten Festival in 2018 — a platform to showcase the best Canadian talent at TIFF. The Drop In went on to receive numerous awards on the festival circuit and was also nominated for a Writers Guild of Canada Screenwriting Award. Naledi is currently working on her first feature film to direct. She is a member of the Writers Guild of America (West), the Writers Guild of Canada, the Producers Guild of America and the Television Academy. She is based in Los Angeles.
