Moreover, she was recognised as a ‘Leading Woman in Tax in Kenya’ during the commemoration of International Women’s Day in 2021 and 2022 by KRA.

Alex Kanyi is a partner in the Tax and Exchange Control practice at Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr(CDH) Kenya. He has extensive experience in tax, corporate and commercial law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.

He has worked in Kenya and Ireland for clients with operations in Europe, Asia, and Africa. Alex has solid experience in various sectors including private equity, financial services, manufacturing, trading and energy. He is a thought leader in tax and has published articles and alerts on various emerging tax matters as well as organised and moderated many tax webinars and seminars.

Moreover, Alex has been at the forefront in lobbying for tax reforms in Kenya and is a regular voice on national and international broadcast media on tax and legal matters. Alex was recently awarded as the Commercial Practitioner of the Year, 2023 at the prestigious Nairobi Legal Awards.

Wangoi Karuga is a Tax Partner at MAK & Partner Advocates, a full-service Law Firm located in Nairobi, Kenya. Wangoi is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a chartered accountant with ACCA, and a member of the Institute of Certified Secretaries of Kenya (ICPSK). Wangoi is a serving member of the Law Society of Kenya, Nairobi Branch and the East Africa Law Society Tax Law Committees.

Prior to joining MAK & Partner Advocates, Wangoi was a Senior Associate at Anjarwalla & Khanna, ALN Kenya. Prior to joining ALN Kenya, Wangoi was a Senior Tax Advisor at KPMG East Africa. On an international front, Wangoi has previously worked in KPMG UK, London office as a tax secondee in international tax advisory services specific to real estate market in the UK.

Wangoi has over ten years’ experience in providing legal, taxation and accounting services to a wide range of local and multinational clientele. Fredrick is a senior associate at Bowmans and a member of the Tax Department.

Fredrick has previously worked in the tax and legal department of Deloitte & Touche LLP as a manager. He has extensive experience involving advisories on both local and international/cross-border tax issues, tax implications on restructuring and setting up, mergers and acquisitions, KRA audit support, compliance reviews, tax risks and opportunities reviews and tax controversy including appeals at the Tax Appeals Tribunal and the High Court.
