Beth L. Barnhard is Certified as an Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the ABA-accredited National Elder Law Foundation. Beth helps seniors, people with disabilities, and their families navigate the challenging process of planning for and applying for institutional Medicaid in the home and community-based setting as well as the nursing home and assisted living settings. Beth also handles Medicaid appeals in state and federal court.

Beth advises clients in connection with a variety of issues associated with aging and disability including special needs planning and planning for incapacity. Beth brings her litigation experience to elder and disability law issues and handles guardianships, protective arrangements, as well as fiduciary litigation and will contests.

Beth is a frequent lecturer on elder and disability law topics including Medicaid, guardianships, and fiduciary litigation.

Beth is the current Chair of the Litigation Committee for the New Jersey Chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NJ NAELA). Beth is also a Past President of NJ NAELA (2017, 2023). Beth is a Past Chair of the Elder & Disability Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association (2018).

Beth is proficient in American Sign Language and is trained as a Support Services Provider for the Deaf-Blind.

I have been appointed to conduct intensive in-depth investigations and assessments. Daniel J. Jurkovic is an attorney whose practice is concentrated in the areas of Elder Law, guardianships, Medicaid planning, Medicaid qualification, disability planning, estate planning and estate administration. Mr. Jurkovic’s office is located in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Mr. Jurkovic has been granted the title of Certified Elder Law Attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation, after demonstrating through comprehensive testing and documentation of actual cases handled, that he has a solid foundation in the complex issues affecting the elderly and disabled in America today. This certification has been approved by the New Jersey Supreme Court and accredited by the American Bar Association.

Mr. Jurkovic is a graduate of Pace University School of Law where, in addition to his Juris Doctorate, he received a Certificate in Health Law Policy. Mr. Jurkovic also holds a Master of Science degree in Industrial and Labor Relations, with a specialization in Negotiating Strategy, from Cornell University.

Recently, Mr. Jurkovic represented the Guardianship Association of New Jersey, Inc. (GANJI) and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) as amicus parties before the New Jersey Supreme Court in the matter of Thomas Saccone v. Board of Trustees, Police and Fireman’s Retirement System, and previously served as lead attorney on the amicus curie brief submitted to the New Jersey Supreme Court in the matter of In re Keri, which established the right of guardians of incapacitated persons to apply substitute judgment for purposes of conducting Medicaid planning for their wards.

Brian E. Shea is a Partner with Meyerson, Fox, Mancinelli & Conte, PA. Brian practices in the areas of Guardianship Litigation; Chancery Litigation; Estate and Trust Administration and Litigation; and Matrimonial Litigation. Brian often performs services as Court Appointed Counsel for allegedly incapacitated individuals in Guardianship matters. Brian has also been appointed numerous times as Guardian ad Litem, for both children and adults, in Guardianship Litigations, Estate and Trust Litigations and other matters. Brian is a Court Approved Mediator and has also been selected to serve in the role of Arbitrator.

Brian received his undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s University and his law degree from Seton Hall University School of Law. Prior to engaging in private practice, from September 2005 through August 2006, Brian served a one-year judicial clerkship in the Superior Court of New Jersey for the Honorable James B. Convery, J.S.C., Lead Dissolution Judge, Chancery Division, Family Part, Essex Vicinage. Brian is a graduate of the American Bar Association Section of Family Law National Institute for Trial Advocacy, an intensive professional training program in the art of Trial Skills.

Brian is also the current District Chairman of the Bergen County District II-B Fee Arbitration Committee and a former member of the Juvenile Conference Committee in Passaic County. Brian was appointed on January 1, 2021 by the Supreme Court of the State of New Jersey to the Supreme Court Committee on the Unauthorized Practice of Law for a three-year term.
