We have planned a special evening for our members and friends

  • First, attend the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Environmental Management Association of Hong Kong Limited at 5:00pm to find out what we have been doing and what is in the plan for the coming years.
  • Next, stay with us at 6:00pm for an enlightening sharing by Dr. Samuel Chui, J.P., Director of Environmental Protection, on "The Role of Environmental Management Professionals in a Changing and Challenging World".
  • Finally, enjoy a delicious 4-course networking dinner with us at the Faculty Lounge of the City University of Hong Kong.

EMAHK Ltd. is taking this opportunity to organize a dinner for our members to network with old friends, and make some new friends.

Language: The sharing and AGM will be conducted in ENGLISH


Fee:

Participation in the AGM and/or sharing is free for members and $50 for non-members.

The fee for the dinner is $100 for members and $380 for non-members.


CPD: 1 CPD hour will be awarded to attendees of the Sharing. The certificate will be sent by email after the event.


Notes:

  1. No refund is provided unless the event is cancelled by EMAHK Ltd.
  2. A QR code for entrance to the City University of Hong Kong will be sent through the Facilities Management Office one day prior to the event (i.e. 30 August 2024).
  3. Personal data provided will be used solely for the purpose of event registration and membership management, and will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy of EMAHK Ltd.

With growing environmental challenges such as air pollution, water pollution, waste management, biodiversity loss, resource depletion and climate change, we need increasing the number of trained professionals in environmental management, while training them in a manner that addresses the expanding scope of managing environmental issues. Dr Chui will use several examples to illustrate how environmental professionals can manage and handle these challenges through a multi-disciplinary approach and integrated solutions.

    Dr. Samuel Chui, J.P.

    Director of Environmental Protection at HKSAR Government

    Dr. Samuel HK Chui graduated from the Mechanical Engineering Department of the University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He has over 30 years of experience in the field of environmental engineering, and has been responsible for a number of tasks including sewerage infrastructure planning, enforcing environmental legislations, cleaning up the Shing Mun River, the Harbour Area Sewage Treatment Scheme, O-PARK1, O-PARK2, I-PARK1, and the Review of the Environmental Impact Assessment Process. Dr. Chui is an expert in wastewater treatment and has published about 30 international journal papers with over 1,400 citations, received 6 international awards, and won the Best Ph.D Thesis Award of the University of Hong Kong. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he used his expertise to launch a territory-wide sewage surveillance program that successfully identified over 26,000 COVID cases and broke the chain of transmission. Dr. Chui had also been teaching "Wastewater Treatment and Reuse", a Master of Science course at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology for 20 years. Dr. Chui is now the Director of Environmental Protection Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government.
