Program, Application, Eligibility
Mission
- This program is organized by AAASE (Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering), with the goal of inspiring and empowering the next-generation innovators, leaders, and thinkers in science and engineering
Program highlights
- Stimulating lectures by top professors and industry icons, covering 4 exciting areas: AI & Machine Learning, Energy & Materials Science, Biology, and Rockets & Space Exploration. Faculty members include distinguished academics and leaders from institutions such as Stanford University, Princeton University, Columbia University, and cutting-edge startups
- STEM leadership & entrepreneurship workshops and a week-long group design project, mentored by distinguished leaders and renowned entrepreneurs. The program will culminate in a group project presentation on demo day
- Top 2 winning teams from the Silicon Valley Summer Camp will be invited to the AAASE Fellow Summit at the National Academy of Science and Engineering headquarters, and compete to win the national championship!
- 9-day full room and board on Stanford campus, allowing you to be fully immersed in the Stanford campus experience

Eligibility
- Rising 9th-12th grades in US high schools, in the Fall of 2025.
- US citizen or Green card holders
- If you applied AAASE MIT summer camp, you will not be eligible for applying this camp, since you can only apply one of them, not both.
Application Fee
- $30, non-refundable. Please click "Register" button to apply.
Application and Deadlines
- Feb 8, 2025: Online application starts at 12:00am (PST)
- April 6, 2025: Application will be closed at 11:55pm (PST)
- May 4, 2025: Admission date. Email notification will be sent to selected students and their parents
- May 11, 2025: Acceptance confirmation, parent agreement, tuition payment, and university policy agreement
- Aug 2, 2025: AAASE Summer Academy starts
Application Documents
The following items are required during registration:
- Student's official transcript from school (an unofficial transcript is fine if an official transcript cannot be uploaded). There is no minimum GPA requirement.
- Two essays: each has a limit of 350 words.
- The Statue of Liberty, a symbol of freedom in New York but not native to America. Mulan, a Disney princess despite not fitting the traditional princess mold. Tell us about a group and/or its unofficial members that do not fit in conventional terms, and why (or why not) should it be included or excluded?
- People are often more complex than a list of their accomplishments suggests. What is one important characteristic you have that is not immediately obvious to others?
- Resume of the student
- SAT/ACT/PSAT/PACT if available (optional)
Tuition Fee
- AAASE Lifetime Member: $2500 (The lifetime member status needs to be validated by 1/1/2025)
- Non Lifetime Member: $2900
Note: Tuition fee is paid after admission acceptance notice. Tuition includes 9-day full room and board at Stanford University.

FAQs
- What is the selection criteria? What kind of students are you looking for?
The students are selected based on their academic record, demonstrated leadership, participation in school and community activities, and passion and motivation to learn.
- How many students will be enrolled in the camp this year?
50 students.
- Where can I find the program information?
We are building this year's program. The tentative list of lecturers can be found above.
- What does a typical day at the camp look like?
Please refer to our previous programs in 2024. The day usually starts at 9 am and ends at 5pm.
- How will student groups be assigned?
Student participants will be organized into small groups, each comprising approximately five individuals, to collaboratively work on a group project throughout the duration of the week-long program. Group assignments will be determined based on common interests and mutual selection.
- Does the Academy provide accommodation/room?
Yes, it is residential. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included.
- Is there financial support for students who can't afford the camp?
Currently we don't provide financial aid. In addition, this is a non-profit program where the tuition is intended to cover all the costs only.
- Can I apply to both the MIT and Silicon Valley locations?
No. Please choose one to apply with no exception.
- Can current 8th grade students apply?
Yes, the application is open to students who will be in 9th-12th grades in the Fall of 2025
- How can the student be eligible for lifetime member tuition?
Please refer to the AAASE website aaase.org on membership application. The student or parent must be a lifetime member by Jan 1st, 2025 to be eligible for the lifetime member tuition.
