OVERALL GOAL/OBJECTIVE OF THE SYMPOSIUM:

General objectives:

The objective for this symposium is to discuss current, relevant, molecular and cell biology discoveries, highlighting how these insights impact our understanding of the pathogenesis and treatment of cancer. The goal is to provide engaging and enlightening presentations geared to clinicians with a view to broaden their knowledge of the basic science of cancer as it relates to the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer. Key historical advances that have shaped our approach to cancer are of interest. For the 2025 symposium we are highlighting the utility and clinical applications of non-invasive liquid biopsy.

Speakers are encouraged to discuss novel scientific advances, including their own work, that will shape the future of cancer treatment and our understanding of cancer biology, paying particular attention to advances in therapeutic targets and markers of therapeutic response in the era of personalized medicine. We encourage the speakers to highlight how advancements in basic science led to specific improvements in personalized cancer care as a means of motivating the target audience to learn more about translational science. We hope that this Symposium will provide opportunity for trainees and clinicians to further their interest in relevant aspects of basic and translational research and encourage their involvement in research initiatives and clinical trials for their patients.
