In the last couple of years there has been a huge shift towards green and sustainable buildings in China & Southeast Asia, especially when it comes to premium high-rise buildings in cities such as Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Shanghai, Shenzhen and also Bangkok. New buildings with a reduced energy demand and improved well-being of the occupants have been built and its "greenness" and sustainability has been certified by LEED, WELL, DGNB, TREES and other rating systems.
The topic of energy efficiency is becoming increasingly important for Thailand. The gradual implementation of the Building Energy Code (BEC) tightening is currently planned for the end of 2020. First "(Net) Zero-Energy Building" pilot projects by DEDE & Khon Kaen University have been driven forward.
