Event Details

Science-based targets provide a clearly defined pathway for companies to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, helping prevent the worst impacts of climate change and future-proof business growth. Targets are considered 'science-based' if they are in line with what the latest climate science deems necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Large corporations and brand names are increasingly aware of the risks posed by rising greenhouse gas emissions, and they have taken up their own fight against climate change, viewing this with a long-term perspective and concern about how it will affect their businesses and their licence to operate in future. There are constant pressures from consumers for larger corporations to take ownership of their greenhouse gas emissions and provide proof of reductions through their annual reports. This public pressure will gradually cascade downwards to the providers of services and products for these corporations, where Scope 31 emissions take place and contribute significantly to global CO2 emissions.

Product and Service Providers should incorporate environmentally sustainable practices as part of their daily operations. This will not only help them realise and mitigate emissions for their businesses, but also show ownership and responsibility as providers of services or products that would contribute to their Customers' Scope 3 emissions. This will add value to the overall Customers' effort in their own Sustainability Reporting, which in turn would increase or improve business partnerships between the 2 parties. Using SBTI to track and reduce emissions will provide assurance that the reductions are being achieved with accountability, and under acceptable guidelines.

The session will address how business owners can derived benefits from reducing emissions. The event will also share how incorporating SBTI into business strategy and planning will provide some level of sustainability and advantage to businesses. Our esteemed speakers will then offer systematic and concrete ways to reduce your emissions to reach a level of net-zero.
