Welcome Message

Welcome Message

It is my distinct pleasure to welcome you to the 46th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada, held in beautiful Richmond, BC. This is an exciting time for our community, and I am honored to serve as your President as we gather to explore the future of women's health and gynecologic oncology.

The theme of this year's AGM, Driving Innovation: Leveraging AI, Advocacy, and Novel Therapeutics for Women's Health, speaks to the incredible progress we are making in transforming patient care and advancing the science that drives our field. With breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, the power of advocacy, and the ongoing development of novel therapeutics, we are well-positioned to shape the future of gynecologic oncology in ways that will positively impact women's health across Canada and beyond.

I am particularly thrilled to announce this year's recipient of the prestigious Presidential Medal, Dr. Gina Ogilvie. Dr. Ogilvie's tireless dedication, her efforts in advancing cervical cancer prevention, HPV self-screening, and vaccination policies have shaped health policy and healthcare delivery both nationally and internationally. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Ogilvie on this well-deserved honor.

As we gather for this AGM, we will have the opportunity to engage in dynamic discussions, explore the latest innovations, and forge new collaborations. This is a time for learning, networking, and continuing the important work that drives us to improve care and outcomes for women affected by gynecologic cancers.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude for your unwavering support of the Society, and for your ongoing commitment to advancing the field of gynecologic oncology. It is your passion, expertise, and dedication that enable us to continue making meaningful strides in the fight against cancer.

I look forward to a productive and inspiring AGM, and to the continued progress we will make together in advancing the care and health of women.

Warm regards,

Shannon Salvador President The Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada
