DNPs of Color (DOCs), is a 501c3 nonprofit nursing organization, whose mission is to increase diversity in doctoral studies, clinical practice, and leadership for nurses. DNP, short for Doctor of Nursing Practice, is the highest level of education a nurse can attain which focuses on clinical practice. DNPs influence healthcare outcomes through healthcare policy, organizational leadership, and translating nursing research into evidenced-based practice.

Provide a succinct (no more than 250 words), scholarly, well-organized, and captivating paragraph for each abstract. A brief abstract title must be included with submissions. For every abstract, list two to three learning objectives. Use an action verb, such as apply, demonstrate, identify, or analyze for each objective.  


Include background, methods, and other pertinent headings. The conference title or conference impact areas must be reflected in submissions. Include recommendations for others who may be considering a similar approach.


Abstracts may highlight original research, quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice, or programmatic innovations. Formatting of the abstract should be consistent with the type of project being presented. Provide a minimum of 2 high-level references using 7th Edition APA format. References must be within the last 5 years.  


Abstracts for all impact areas are welcomed

Maximum of TWO (2 )presenters for each abstract submitted for mini podium presentation

ONE (1) designated presenter for poster presentation


Only a complete submission is eligible for review

Ensure that a completed abstract is evident in your submission.

Abstract submissions that are incomplete after the submission deadline will not be eligible for presentation or considered for review.


Presentation Format 

Poster Presentation - e-Poster submission. Presenters are allotted 8-minute time slots for a Quick Pitch presentation


Mini Podium presentations are allotted 20-minute time slots: 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions and answers

Conference Registration Scholarship DUE Aug 1st

DOCs registration scholarships are limited and designed for those who do not have the financial resources to register for the conference. These scholarships are available to those who can demonstrate need and especially individuals experiencing undue hardship are encouraged to apply. 


Gala Professional Development Scholarships DUE DUE Aug 1st

DNPs of Color Professional Development Scholarship

These scholarships are available to those who can demonstrate commitment to professional development (currently in school or contributing to nursing practice) and upholding mission of DNPs of Color.

-Lifestyle Medicine Provider Bundle Scholarship sponsored by Eden Health Restored: The professional development scholarship called "Lifestyle Medicine Starter Bundle" will include the reversing diabetes course and a 1 year membership with the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.

Individuals may only apply for one scholarship and scholarships are non-transferrable. Completion of the application is the responsibility of the applicant.

 

Requirements of Recipients:

DOCs Conference scholarship recipients must:

  • -Promote the conference through their respective networks and social media platforms. All promotional activity must be documented.
  • -Participate in pre, during and post-conference promotions such as video messaging, photos, testimonials, social media banner ads, etc.
  • -Invite colleagues, networks, etc. to register and attend DOCs Conference


Application:

All applicants are required to submit a two-paragraph personal statement that answers the following:

  • Share your interest in DNPs of Color
  • How you plan to use the information you receive from the DOCs conference.


Review Criteria:

The DOCs Scholarship Review Committee will assess each application using the following key criteria.

Applicant's commitment to nursing profession, scholarship and diversity

Reason for applying for scholarship

DOCs Awards

The DNPs of Color Awards for Distinguished Service & Excellence in Nursing Practice were created to honor and uplift the remarkable achievements of nurses of color who have made profound contributions to the nursing profession and the communities they serve. 


By celebrating excellence in nursing practice, leadership, and service, the DNPs of Color Awards shine a light on those who not only excel in their clinical expertise but also champion systemic change. These nurses use their skills and voices to address health inequities, advocate for underserved populations, and ensure that the nursing workforce reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.
