Andrew Harding FCMA, CGMA, is the Chief Executive of the Management Accounting PU at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. He is also currently the Chief Executive of CIMA.

Andrew will lead all Management Accounting activities for the Association, developing plans and strategies, managing relationships and delivering results for members. He is looking forward to developing a best-in-class global professional accounting body, with an initial focus on opening and expanding the U.S. market for the management accounting profession. He will also be focused on driving value for members, firstly by globalizing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

When asked to describe his leadership style Andrew says he is empowering (he believes in allowing people to use their own talents to shine), target-driven (there must always be something to shoot for and achieve), and keeping a sense of perspective and humor (sometimes it is needed to break tension when managing a difficult task and keep a team moving forward).

Andrew was born in London. He holds an MBA from Henley Business School at the University of Reading, and a BSc (Economics) from the University of Bristol.

Barry C. Melancon is the CEO of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the most influential body of professional accountants in the world with more than 690,000 members and students, living in 179 countries and territories. Formed in 2017, the Association combines the strengths of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), which Melancon also leads as President & CEO.

During his 41-year career, Melancon has served as an advocate for the accounting profession. He has built extensive relationships with governments around the world, extending the reach of the public and management accounting profession to new regions and opportunities.

Melancon joined the AICPA as CEO in 1995. He is now the longest serving CEO in the organisation’s 133-year history. Under his tenure, the AICPA has grown to become the largest membership body of CPAs in the world and has directed numerous initiatives to benefit not only the profession, but also investors, business owners, lenders and the general public. These include audit quality centers, private company reporting standards, the computerized CPA exam and two consumer financial literacy education programs.

Prior to joining the AICPA, Melancon served for eight years as executive director of the Society of Louisiana CPAs. He began his accounting career in 1979 at a small CPA firm in Louisiana. In 1984, he was elected a firm partner. Melancon graduated in 1978 from Nicholls State University in Louisiana, majoring in accounting with a minor in government. He also earned an MBA in 1983 from Nicholls State University and subsequently served as an adjunct professor of accounting at his alma mater for four years. Melancon was awarded his alma mater’s first and only Honorary Doctorate of Commerce in 2008.

He has been honored with many awards, including the 2011 National Association Executive of the Year award. He presents to profession and business leaders more than 100 times per year.

Ian Betts is Director for Southeast Asia at Hill & Associates, Country Manager for Indonesia and Leader for the company's Risk Intelligence service line. He has 30 years of experience in and associated with Indonesia and Asia and has been described as one of the region’s leading analysts.

After ten years in business consultancy in Jakarta, Ian joined Hill & Associates in 2007 to lead the company’s Risk Intelligence Service in Indonesia. He served as Country Manager there from 2010 to 2014 when he relocated to London in January 2015 as Global Head of Risk Analysis for G4S Risk Consulting.

In January 2017 Ian returned to Southeast Asia to lead the company’s operations in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the broader Mekong sub-region from Bangkok. In 2021 his duties expanded to cover Indonesia once more, resuming his role there as President Director and returning to the country in June of that year. As leader of Hill & Associates’ Risk Intelligence service, Ian also manages a team of analysts based in countries throughout the region.

A published author in Indonesia, Ian provides expertise on a broad spectrum of risk and security areas. Fluent in Danish and Indonesian, he has a Bachelor of Arts in the Humanities and a Master’s degree in International Studies.

Melanie Janine Kanaka, FCMA, CGMA, is the 89th CIMA President and Co-Chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, representing AICPA & CIMA. She is the first-ever Asian woman to be appointed President of CIMA and Co-Chair of the Association.

Melanie first became a CIMA member in 1992 and obtained her fellowship in 2000. She has been an active member of CIMA for over three decades and has held several volunteer positions both in Sri Lanka, her home country, and internationally. Melanie also currently serves on the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants’ Board of Directors.

In recognition of her contributions to CIMA and the global accounting profession over the years, Melanie received the Service Excellence in the Finance Sector Award at the Women in Management’s Top 50 Global Professional & Career Women Awards, which took place in Dubai in June 2022.

Melanie has extensive experience in corporate finance and development banking across the USA, Germany and South Asia. She currently leads the finance and administration function for the World Bank in Sri Lanka and Maldives where she is responsible for finance, resource management and performance review and is part of the World Bank’s South Asia regional unit.

Melanie is a Fulbright Scholar and an accredited SAP consultant who holds an MBA specialising in international finance and corporate strategy from Emory University's Goizueta Business School in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. She also holds a 1st class B. Com (Hons) degree from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka, and is a distinguished alumna of Bishop’s College, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
