Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda

The Insurance Brokers Association of Uganda (IBAU) is a professional umbrella body which was established to ensure professional practices and ethics are maintained and practiced by all member companies in the delivery of insurance advisory services. The Association also lobbies other stake holders for policies and regulations which are internationally acceptable and conducive to both local and international insurance markets.

The Association membership comprises of 56 incorporated companies which are licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda (IRA). Amongst the licensed Insurance Brokers are multinational, regional and local insurance brokers who have the capacity to benchmark huge risks with international markets and also help the Government to verify the authenticity of multinational suppliers and service providers to Government entities.

Event Details

The conference will be a three-day conference scheduled for April 17th–19th, 2024. The objective is to create a platform for practitioners and experts from the insurance industry, business fraternity, government, and local and regional communities to interact and share experiences on the opportunities and challenges in the business ecosphere. The conference is expected to attract over 250 delegates.

The theme of the conference is "ADAPTING TO THE EVOLVING BUSINESS LANDSCAPE".

Focusing on the theme, the conference will provide a platform for different stakeholders to interrogate the developments in the geopolitical/economic space, human resources, regulation, and information technology as they affect the future of the insurance business and its correlation with other sectors.

Insurance players can no longer do business as usual while the landscape evolves. It is imperative to stay in tandem with the developed economies to effectively grow our own. As a developing nation with a majority of citizens being the younger generation, the need to impart leadership skills for future leaders stands at the forefront while embracing current technological trends, social issues, and climate change as key components of the ESG agenda.

The need to embrace the new regulatory requirements for the insurance fraternity cannot be overlooked. This residential conference will be held in Mbale as part of the outreach strategy to spread the insurance gospel across the country.
