More than 10 years ago Indonesia was awakened to the reality that it would be facing huge security and risk challenges. It is fair to say that between the various security apparatus, these challenges have been confronted with great professionalism.

One institution that is at the heart of the domestic security, law, and order challenges is the national police force, whether physical security, commercial embezzlement, investigating corruption, high-tech fraud and keeping a lid on disruptive factors across the archipelago, the Police are at the front-line.

It therefore gives us great pleasure to welcome Komjen. Pol. Drs. Syafruddin, M. Si., who has agreed to discuss national issues, challenges and successes, exclusively with BritCham members. Drs. Syafruddin is a career 'policeman', having begun his career at Polda Metro Jaya in 1985, risen through the ranks, served in different provinces and now holds the esteemed position of 'Deputy Police Chief'.
