1. Background

The BAIPHIL and BSP, through the Consumer Protection and Market Conduct Office (CPMCO) agreed to partner in the conduct of a webinar for officers and personnel of BSP Supervised Institutions (BSIs) on the highlights of Republic Act No. 11765 or the Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act (FCPA) of 2022; BSP Circular No. 1160 which serves as the main implementing rules and regulations (IRR); and the Rules of Procedure for Consumer Assistance Mechanism (CAM), Mediation and Adjudication. The parties deemed that these new policy measures are topics of great interest to BAIPHIL members.


2. Webinar Objectives

· For participants to learn about the highlights of the FCPA, and the regulatory expectations on financial consumer protection as embodied in BSP Circular No. 1160.

· For participants to be informed about the complaints handling and redress mechanisms made available by the BSP for financial consumers with grievances against BSIs.

· To generate cooperation from the banking industry in practicing the Consumer Protection Standards of Conduct, and complying with FCPA and its IRRs.
