These sessions are perfect for newer board members who are just starting in their new role, or board members seeking to refresh their skills. During these informative sessions, participants will gain essential insights into board governance, leadership responsibilities, and effective decision-making. They will also have the opportunity to learn from an experienced board member, Mick Warner, who has over 30 years of experience in the housing section. We are certain that this course will support a prospective board member's growth and success within their position.

The sessions of this course were derived from our Board Excellence Programme, but were refined and made shorter for participants who have less time on their hands, or who are unable to commit to the long term investment of the course.

What is this session about?

This session sets out hints and tips for those thinking about how they can effectively prepare for and contribute in Board meetings, including from experienced Board members operating in the social housing sector. The session covers general preparation for meetings such as understanding the social housing sector and your organisation and more specific preparation including reading and what to look for in Board papers. The session then covers effectively contributing in Board meetings and meeting etiquette in both face to face and virtual Board meetings.
