Lauren Mogensen is global general counsel for Bank of America, responsible for overseeing the company's legal functions around the world. She is a member of the company's executive management team.
Previously, she was the Global Compliance and Operational Risk executive for the company, responsible for overseeing the company's strategy and governance for the company's Compliance and Operational Risk programs. Mogensen was also responsible for enterprise-wide Compliance and Operational Risk policies, standards, and program execution. Her responsibilities also included maintaining relationships with key regulators and supervisory institutions worldwide, the company's senior leadership team, key governance committees and the board of directors to sustain a culture of managing risk well and a best-in-class control environment to support the company's responsible growth strategy.
An experienced attorney and executive with a background in both risk and compliance, Mogensen has been with Bank of America for two decades, serving as deputy general counsel and legal executive for several areas of the company as well as chief risk and compliance officer and chief financial officer for Global Risk and Investment Management (GWIM).
Mogensen first joined FleetBoston Financial in 2001 as managing director, Mergers & Acquisitions. In 2003, she was named deputy general counsel. Prior to joining FleetBoston, Mogensen was partner at Edwards & Angell, LLP (now Locke Lorde LLP), practicing primarily in general corporate law, securities, and mergers and acquisitions.
Mogensen received a J.D. with honors from George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C., in 1988, and her B.A. in Government with distinction from Colby College in Waterville, ME, in 1984.
