About ABASA Academics Forum (AAF)

Vision

  • A thriving community of African and Coloured Accountancy Academics, which excels and in so doing drives the transformation objective both in faculties and through the students that the faculties train.

Mission

  • To foster an environment in which African and Coloured Accountancy Academics can have the opportunities, support and resources to develop and advance as academics and use their skills and position to positively impact the development and achievement of aspiring black accountants.

Strategy

  • Form a platform for African and Coloured Accountancy Academics in which they can:
  • Collaborate on research, other academic projects and build research capacity.
  • Access resources and other support that is key to their development.
  • Mentor and be mentored, share knowledge, experiences and best practice.
  • Form an allied front in addressing challenges to their development, including unfair workplace practices.
  • Promote their access to meaningful roles in professional bodies.

Goals

  • Recruit black academics to form/join the ABASA Black Academics' Platform.

Objectives

  • Identify and directly contact at least 20 (philosophically aligned) black accountancy academics in various academic programmes (CA and non-CA) across the country and present to them the idea of the ABASA Black Academics Platform with a view to later using them as avenues for recruiting more black accountancy academics.
