The Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) general report was launched by The Auditor General of South Africa on 30 June 2021. This was also a joint release of the covid-19 special report on municipalities. It should be further noted that the MFMA report has been tabled three months before the October local government elections.
Given this scenario, and the current state of affairs and political environment, ABASA will be hostisng the AGSA for a webinar focusing on MFMA and an update of the material irregularity (Ml) process and the local government MIs for the period under review.
This webinar will also focus on the key message from the Auditor General, Tsakani Maluleke which emphasizes the added responsibility of outgoing accounting officers as they leave office and the importance of ensuring financial records are left in a manner that enables an efficient transition for financial stability in municipalities.
