The Africa Executive Coaching Council (AECC) is an aggregator and advocate for executive coaching in Africa. We aim to create an executive coaching eco-system that promotes best practice and relevant support to organisations and the executive coaching community for positive transformation.

The webinar presents an opportunity to discuss the growth and development of executive coaching in the continent, and its potential to accelerate transformation of organisations in Africa.

Martin is a former banker, an Executive Coach, Leadership and Governance Advisor. He led KCB Bank Group as CEO and board member during a period of rapid transformation and growth; he has worked in senior leadership roles at Barclays Bank in Kenya and South Africa and has recently spent three years as a Partner in the professional services firm, Deloitte, leading their Financial Services Industry practice. Martin has previously worked in the public service as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance/Treasury, Government of Kenya.

He sits on a number of bluechip company boards as non-executive director. Martin is involved in facilitating world-class board practice and leadership development, which are key areas for business sustainability. He is an alumni of The University of Nairobi, ESAMI/Maastritch Business School, Harvard Business School as well as a holder of a number of qualifications in Executive Coaching, Accounting, Banking, Leadership and Governance. He has received recognition by both the Government of Kenya (Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear – CBS ) and KCA University (Honorary Doctor of Business Leadership degree), among others, for his work in the Leadership arena. Mireille Ineza Karera is the Group CEO at KORA Coaching Group Ltd, a Coaching & Consulting company based in Rwanda and South Africa. Mireille is the Faculty Lead Coach at KORA Coaching & Business Academy (KCA), which is a subsidiary of the Group. She is a Rwandan Businesswoman who recently returned to Africa after spending over 13 years working as a Top Performer in Sales, Business Development Strategy for Global Financial Services Providers such as Moody’s Investor Services, EBS Dealing Resources (now ICAP) and Thomson Reuters in London, Dubai, Johannesburg and Nairobi.

As a leading Coach and Public Speaker, Mireille is a sought-after speaker for conferences on Business issues and Women Economic Empowerment. Under her leadership, KORA Coaching Group Ltd. launched the very first Professional Coaching Academy in Rwanda. The recently created Coaching Academy’s mission is to create a solid Coaching industry in Rwanda by tackling the scarce supply of local Professional Coaches in Rwanda.

Mireille is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) and a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF). She is also a Certified Professional Coactive Coach (CPCC) from the Coaches Training Institute (CTI).

Her mission is to empower a generation of World-Class Business Leaders who will transform Africa into an economic powerhouse.
In 2017, Mireille was handed an Award “Africa’s Top 25 Distinguished Women in Business Excellence” by Africa Leadership Magazine & Amazons Watch Magazine.

In 2020, Mireille was conferred an Award as ”101 Most Fabulous Global Coaching Leaders” at the World HRD Congress in Mumbai, India.

Dumi is a Behavioral Scientist, a certified international Executive Coach and Leadership Development Facilitator based in Johannesburg, South Africa. He works across the African continent delivering leadership, coaching, mentoring, and organisation culture training.

Dumi uses Emotional Intelligence, Gestalt, and Ubuntu values to ignite human excellence within individuals, in teams, and across organisation systems. He has been helping organizations develop dynamic and high-performance cultures for many years, focusing on individual and collective leadership behaviours and values. He is passionate about helping leaders navigate the modern high-tech and digital workplace, and facilitating coach-training programmes to promote and develop coaching skills within organizations.

Dumi serves on the faculties of The Integral Africa Coaching Centre in Cape Town (where he teaches on the African Coaching Context, with Ubuntu awareness), and is on the University of Stellenbosch Business School part-time faculty where he delivers an African Team Coaching fundamentals module.

He is a member of the International Coach Federation (ICF) and of the Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA). He is the co-founding Chairperson of the pioneering Ubuntu Coaching Foundation (UCF), and is one of the Founding Board Members of the Africa Board for Coaching, Consulting and Coaching Psychology (ABCCCP). He currently serves as a trustee on the international Board of Trustees of the ICF Foundation.

He recently co-edited a pioneering publication on African coaching and consulting, and regularly features on radio programmes discussing coaching and personal effectiveness.

Joy-Marie Lawrence is a Chartered Director, and the Founder of Boardvisory a niche firm creating transformative value for boards and stakeholders. She has extensive experience as a lawyer, businesswoman and executive Integral coach. Joy-Marie is passionate about the difference executive coaching provides for conscious leadership in governance through acknowledging our humanness in the boardroom. In Africa we are well positioned between the East and West to do human better, to reconnect as human beings, with each other and with our world.

Her qualifications includes, an Executive MBA (cum laude), UCT Graduate School of Business), a Masters of Law (LLM) in Outer Space, Broadcasting, Telecommunications (WITS), an Associate Certified Coach accredited by International Coaching Federation, an Advanced Programme for Private Equity (GIBS), Diploma in Integral Practitioner Coaching, a Bachelors of Law (LLB) (UCT) and BA (UCT). Joy-Marie is also an accredited integrative Enneagram practitioner. Joy-Marie has been a fellow of the Institute of Directors of South Africa since 2009.

About Organizer

The Africa Executive Coaching Council is a not-for-profit body that was birthed from the success of the Financial Security Executive Coaching Advisory Board that was set up by FSDA (Financial Sector Deepening Africa) to impact businesses by developing coaching cultures and purposeful leadership in the financial sector in sub-Saharan Africa. Interactions with various stakeholders prompted the need to widen the coaching culture outside the Financial Sector.

AECC was then incorporated in 2018 in Zambia and now runs its operations from Nairobi Kenya and is currently governed by 9-member board with representation from different countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

Working through regional hubs, AECC convenes and provides support to the executive coaching community and users of coaching in organisations including business, government, the development sector and academia, to find solutions to leadership and organisational challenges through Executive coaching.

We are uniquely positioned to bring executive coaching expertise, analytical thinking, resource mobilization, sector leadership and commercial awareness, to the stakeholders of executive coaching through conferences, online platforms, periodic journals and membership forums.
