AI and Data Innovations for Sustainability and Infrastructure is an international conference hosted by Newcastle University in Singapore and the UK Energy Systems Catapult. It will be held from 1-3 April at the Carlton Hotel in Singapore. The event is funded by the UK government Department for Science, Innovation and Technology and is free to attend.
The conference will explore how innovations in AI and Data are contributing to the path of sustainability while positively impacting lives and communities. Speakers and panellists include international experts from academia and industry.
AI and Data innovations may be deployed at a national level, for example to help regulate energy supplies or for urban planning and design. They may also be applicable at a community or individual level, for example in monitoring health or providing convenient local transport.
The idea of a Smart City has become well-known, and Singapore is often cited as a model of a Smart City. A Smart City relies on AI and Data innovations to collect and manage a lot of information at all levels and across all sectors that is then used to enhance our lives and reduce our carbon footprints.
In the conference we will explore a range of such AI and Data innovations, from large scale deployments to brand new products created by start-up companies. We will consider how they are used to enhance the urban environments in which we live and how they help to manage and sustain the clean energy supplies that we depend on. We will also hear about the trends, barriers and dangers from key academics and researchers.
Finally, the continual innovation of AI and Data can only take place if we have the education and training systems in place for upskilling the current workforce and training the future workforce. This will be another topic of discussion at the conference.
