Event Details
The AICAD BIPOC Academic Leadership Institute is a year-long (with the option to extend into a second year) professional development program for BIPOC faculty and staff who are emerging as academic leaders and would like to consider pursuing roles such as Dean, Provost, VP and President. We aim to foster the further development of BIPOC faculty and staff who have shown promise in leadership and who will continue working towards the goal of creating learning and working environments that are inclusive, equitable and just.
The program, running from October through May, will be comprised of two elements - monthly large group professional development webinars and mentorship small groups. The webinars will focus on building knowledge around the full suite of components of higher education administration including working with Boards/governance, fundraising, negotiating with unions, working with search firms and finance.
Participants also will have the opportunity to select a mentorship small group in which to participate throughout the year led by current administrative leaders and providing a more intimate opportunity to connect with BIPOC colleagues from other institutions. These groups will either focus on the path to a particular leadership position or more general leadership topics such as people management or resilient leadership.
Specific dates and times for the monthly sessions and mentorship groups will be set after registration is complete. All webinars are recorded and shared with participants in case attending live is not an option.
