For the past years, she has served as an attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s and Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospitals. After completing her residency in Emergency Medicine at New York University/Bellevue Hospital, she continued Emergency Medicine training at St. Luke’s Roosevelt as an Emergency Ultrasound Fellow. Within one year of graduation Dr. Saul was promoted to Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Director. July 1, 2014, Dr. Saul was promoted to Emergency Ultrasound Division Director. A dedicated educator, Dr. Saul teaches bedside ultrasound to 2 fellows, 42 residents and many medical students each year. Dr. Saul is proud to state that almost every attending physician in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Mount Sinai St. Luke‘s/Roosevelt is credentialed in at least 2 ultrasound applications; many are credentialed in 6 or 7 applications.

Dr. Alex Blutinger Emergency & Critical Care Veterinarian at BluePearl Veterinary Partners Dr. Alex Blutinger is a board certified criticalist at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in New York City. He obtained his BS in Biology, Neuroscience, and Italian at Brandeis University before obtaining his veterinary degree at the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. He completed a rotating internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners in New York City, followed by a small animal emergency and critical care residency at the Animal Medical Center in NYC. His particular clinical interests include mechanical ventilation, toxicities, and polytrauma. Outside of veterinary medicine, he is a dual national of the US and Italy, and spent many years living in Italy, where he developed a passion for Italian culture; cooking, speaking the language, and European football. Alex collaborates with his brother as a DJ and music producer, where they perform in NYC.

Dr. Joel Weltman Senior Veterinarian at the Animal Medical Center Dr. Weltman, a former intern at the Animal Medical Center, rejoined the AMC staff as a member of the emergency and critical care team in 2017. After completing his internship, Dr. Weltman went on to achieve board certification following residency at Cornell University. Following residency, Dr. Weltman chose to pursue his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, investigating the neuroplastic control of breathing as it pertains to sleep apnea and spinal cord injury. As a member of the emergency and critical care team, Dr. Weltman has spearheaded and supported several research projects and currently holds numerous intramural and extramural grants for ongoing studies.

Dr. Kelly Hall Associate Professor of Emergency and Critical Care at James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Colorado State University Dr. Kelly Hall is one of the faculty members who joined the critical care services team in September 2019. In addition to teaching, and working with highly functioning teams, she also has passion for improving trauma patient care through collaborative clinical and translational research and chairs the ACVECC Veterinary Committee on Trauma (VetCOT). She was a faculty member at the University of Minnesota for 14 years where she also earned her DVM, emergency and critical care training for board certification and master's in clinical research. More recently, Dr. Hall took a non-linear path, and taught high school science and coached basketball and lacrosse in an effort to inspire the next generation of scientists and leaders. Primary drivers of Dr. Hall’s philosophy, whether on the clinic floor, coaching on the basketball court or lacrosse field, in the classroom or through research collaborations, include Angela Duckworth’s research on grit, Carol Dweck’s research on growth mindset and John Wooden’s "pyramid of success."

She is the current chair of the ATLS Subcommittee of the Committee on Trauma of the American College of Surgeons. She was the Division Chair for Trauma Critical Care and Prevention in the Department of Trauma and Burns at the John H Stroger Hospital of Cook County in Chicago. She is a past Chair of the Patient/Family Support Committee of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and a past Chair of the Surgical Section of the National Medical Association. In addition to AAST, the NMA, and SCCM, she is a member of the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, the Society of Black Academic Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons, and the American Public Health Association.
