Topical Training Opportunity for Victim Service Providers
September 10th 10 AM - 11:30 AM
Overview:
In the special topical training, we will explore the application of an intersectional approach to our work as support providers for survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse. Building on the work of Dr. Kimberlé Crenshaw's and her Theory of Intersectionality, participants will learn about the impact of compounded discrimination and the specific barriers survivors in marginalized communities may face when seeking supportive services. Best practices for implementing an intersectional approach will be shared, as well as recommendations for further training and resources.
This training is approved for 1.5 PCCD training hours. Additionally, this training will count toward the 1 hour of Cultural Responsiveness training required each year.
