Event Details

Following this lecture you will understand:

  • Basic triage practices and why triage may be necessary in the primary care setting
  • Initial triage assessment, including review of primary and secondary survey
  • Point-of-care diagnostics and their usefulness in the initial assessment
  • Definition of the emergent versus urgent patient and how the approach to their care may differ for the primary care clinician
  • Basic stabilization of the emergency patient
  • Recognizing when patients should be referred to the Emergency Room for additional care
  • Strategies for working with the Emergency Room staff to facilitate successful patient transfer


This lecture will be hosted Wednesday, October 25th at 7PM ET via Zoom​. Upon registering for this event, you will receive an additional Zoom Meeting Registration link in order to track attendance to our sessions.


This program has been approved for 1 hour of continuing education credit for veterinarians and veterinary technicians in jurisdictions that recognize RACE approval. Our program is also approved for 1 hour of NYSED CE.

    Dr. Ann Marie Zollo, DVM, DACVECC obtained her undergraduate degree from Williams College in 2009 and her degree in veterinary medicine from Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2013. Following graduation from Cornell, Dr. Zollo completed both a general internship and emergency and critical care residency at The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. Dr. Zollo achieved board certification in emergency and critical care in 2017, and has remained at The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center as a staff criticalist since completing her residency.

    Dr. Zollo is originally from the New York City area, and she now resides in Manhattan with her husband and their two cats, Izzy and Lola.
