The Australian Sustainable Finance Institute will launch the first round of public consultation on the development of an Australian sustainable finance taxonomy on Tuesday 28 May.
To mark the launch, ASFI is pleased to host a public webinar providing an overview of the taxonomy's development to date and the technical work that is being put forward for public consultation. The briefing will offer an opportunity for Q&A with Nicole Yazbek-Martin, ASFI's Head of Taxonomy and Natural Capital, and Matteo Bigoni, Head of Taxonomies at the Climate Bonds Initiative.
In the first round of public consultation, ASFI will seek feedback on:
- the draft headline ambitions for the Australian taxonomy's environmental objectives; and
- the proposed activities and draft substantive climate change mitigation criteria for the following three priority economic sectors for development:
- electricity generation and storage;
- minerals, mining, and metals; and
- the built environment.
The feedback received during this phase will inform the next iteration of the draft taxonomy, which will undergo a second round of public consultation in Q4 2024.
