The in-person Workshop will be held at my mountain retreat in Bonny Doon, near Santa Cruz. Those of you who have come before know that it is a beautiful natural environment ideal for relaxed discussions, located in a clearing in the redwood forest, with gardens and orchards, and overlooking my pond. Socializing will be enhanced by lots of breaks, fruit picking, walks around the pond, and at the end of the day, a wine and beer reception, a folk music band and a hearty dinner.

In order to allow time for networking during the main event, we will be asking the startups to make their long-form presentations online on November 8, in advance of the main event. All attendees will have the opportunity to watch these presentations live or thru video recordings, and then one person from each startup will be invited to attend in-person and make a brief demo and answer questions during main event

In-person attendance is limited to about 35 persons (other than the speakers). Unfortunately we have just sold out of tickets for the November 17 in-person event, but we of course still have online tickets. If you wish to be added to the waiting list for the in-person event please email Nick at nick@dooninsights.com.

Online attendees will have access to all the presentations through Zoom. We will have a camera crew, monitors, speakers and microphones in the main meeting room to produce the online program and permit online presenters to appear on screen. Online attendees will be able to ask questions through the Zoom chat function. Presentations will be recorded and made available to all attendees.

There will be a third leg to our Workshop. We are offering attendees a chance to schedule private online sessions with the presenting startups after the main event on November 17 to talk business. We have found that all kinds of new relationships can be generated by our Workshops -- investors, customers, manufacturing partners, licensees, etc. Startups who wish to participate will be asked to set aside a block of time during which attendees can request an online meeting to talk business. These slots will be scheduled for shortly after November 17. More information on these sessions will be coming soon!

IN VIEW OF THE DELTA VARIANT SITUATION, FOR THE PROTECTION OF OUR ATTENDEES AND YOUR PEACE OF MIND WE WILL BE ASKING ALL IN-PERSON ATTENDEES TO PROVIDE US WITH PROOF OF VACCINATION.

It is not clear whether an indoor mask mandate will be in effect at the time of our event, but we will of course be following the applicable regulations then in effect.

Looking forward to seeing you at Bonny Doon (or online)!

regards

Howard Chao
