These sessions are perfect for newer board members who are just starting in their new role, or board members seeking to refresh their skills. During these informative sessions, participants will gain essential insights into board governance, leadership responsibilities, and effective decision-making. They will also have the opportunity to learn from an experienced board member, Mick Warner, who has over 30 years of experience in the housing section. We are certain that this course will support a prospective board member's growth and success within their position.

The sessions of this course were derived from our Board Excellence Programme, but were refined and made shorter for participants who have less time on their hands, or who are unable to commit to the long term investment of the course.

What is this session about?

This session focuses on risk management and assurance in the social housing sector including meeting the expectations of the Regulator of Social Housing. The session covers, risk identification, measurement and prioritisation, setting risk appetite levels and responses to risk including the identification and evaluation of controls. The session then looks at the assurance framework and the four lines model of assurance. Finally the session sets out good practice in terms of Board reporting on risk and assurance.
