It is the global proliferation of products within the food and drink sector that has become the scourge of environmentalists and the millennials around the world. Our TV screens and newspapers are filled with ugly images of plastic and other packaging waste. Cities, oceans, and beaches are all becoming clogged up.
Our host country is a particular victim simply because of the size of the population and growing consumerism.
There are many existing initiatives and technologies available to help address the problem with many UK companies leading the way. However, the required solutions require multi-stakeholder support including from all levels of Government. BritCham has been working with a number of companies and Government stakeholders such as the West Java Government to bring solutions to Indonesia. We are also delighted to partner with GAPMMI (Indonesia Food & Beverage Association) to push forward the multi-stakeholder agenda.
Over a full breakfast, we welcome five executive panellists that represent the FMCG MNCs and the technology solutions providers. In particular, we explore how the entire packaging industry is positively responding to the rally-cry of the millennials with an environmental conscience. We learn how a new set of business opportunities is emerging from consumer demand for sustainability.
