Event Details

In this talk we will review the endocannabinoid system and popular cannabinoids available for therapeutic use and learn about the available routes of administration. We will discuss how cannabis can help with symptom control and end of life comfort care by reviewing case studies and the latest research. Lastly, we will discuss rules and regulations surrounding medical cannabis, how to obtain a card, how to recognize safe products, and how families and healthcare services can assist with cannabis care.

For $10.00* – 1.0 CE CREDIT will be awarded to Illinois nurses, social workers, and professional counselors, and nursing home administrators. *No fee for Consumers/Community Members and those not needing CE credit or certificate.

    My name is Rebecca Abraham and I am founder and President of Acute on Chronic. At Acute on Chronic, we believe in educated guidance to cannabis, alternative therapies, supplemental treatments, and support navigating a complex health system. We are here to provide clarity to cannabis and healthcare because we believe that access to treatment, evidence-based practice, healthcare equity, and defense of patient’s rights are vital to your health and well-being.

    I am a registered nurse with 15 years of experience in emergency medicine, critical care, heart failure, surgical services, and case management. I am currently working on my Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Northern Illinois University, my research is focused on Cannabis science, nursing, and the integration of cannabis into traditional healthcare systems. I received my BSN, RN with a minor in Biology from Saint Xavier University and was also board certified in critical care (CCRN) from The American Association of Critical Care Nursing. I was awarded a continuing education scholarship from National Nurses United to Rutgers University’s Women’s Global Health Leadership Certificate program and am a recipient of the Illinois Nurses Association 40 under 40 Leaders in Nursing Award. I also possess a certificate in Cannabis Nursing through the American Cannabis Nurses Association.
