Event Details

Join CEDAM's housing development team as they partner with the Michigan Association of Planning (MAP) to host the Housing in Four Parts series! During this training, we'll provide tools and ideas for community planning and zoning changes that encourage development, as well as equip you with ways you can support your community to advance housing needs. Each week the team will facilitate MAP's training session, providing opportunities for questions, sharing insight, as well as live activities and take home materials. The four sessions are as follows:

  • Master Planning for Housing
  • Zoning Reform in Michigan
  • Stand by Your Plan, and
  • Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs)

Please see the agenda for descriptions of each session.

In partnership with MAP, CEDAM is able to offer all four sessions at a discounted rate of $100. To allow ample time to mail materials, registration will close on November 1. After the completion of the series, MAP is offering 2 CM credits per session attended for a total of 8 possible credits.

Each registrant will receive MAP's training materials for all four sessions prior to the first session. In addition, each registered community will receive one copy of MAP's Zoning Reform Toolkit.

This training is an exclusive CEDAM member benefit. Only CEDAM members will be able to register for this series.

This workshop will reveal what data must be considered to make a thoughtful and robust analysis for the housing element of a master plan, as well as how to get your community on board from the beginning of the planning process so that there is buy-in at the end for policies that embrace an appropriate mix of housing now and into the future.
